Filipino/a/x Americans Navigating Predominantly White Campus Cultures
Abstract:

This study argues that Filipino/a/x Americans at predominantly white campus climates share similar experiences to students of color at predominantly white institutions. To further our understanding of how Filipino/a/x American students navigate predominantly campus climates, this study applies the AsianCrit tenet of Asianization to focus on how these students experience perpetual otherness within their institution through the examination of 9 Filipino/a/x Americans perspectives. The study finds that the participants felt the culture of the university was predominantly white, cultivating a sense of otherness within their peers and their institution.

Understanding How College Access Professionals Utilize Funds of Knowledge When Working with the Families of Prospective First-Generation College Students
I was fortunate to present 2 oral presentations at this semester's Student Scholarly Symposium. I presented my two projects recently funded by Chapman's CUE. The first was on my research on Filipino/a/x Americans (awarded the student scholarly/creative grant for Spring 2023), and the second was on College Access Professionals (awarded a travel grant to attend AERA 2023 in Chicago).

Understanding How Racism Impacts Pornography: A Comparison of Two Case Studies
In addition to my oral presentations that I presented during this symposium, I also collaborated on a poster presentation for a final project. This presentation was completed with my partner, Aaron Gutiérrez (he/him), for our Honors 465: Porn Studies class taught by Dr. Ian Barnard (they/them). It showcases our findings for our final project.
